A quick interview with Nova Smith
Q. What is your family life like?
Q. Do you have siblings? Are they close?
A. I have a younger sister. We used to be close. We haven't spoken in a few years because of her current boyfriend. Everytime we spoke their was a drama surrounding her relationship with him. She pulled me into a triangle with this guy and eventually I had enough. I wrote her a letter and told her that when she found true love, to invite me to her wedding. She hasn't spoken to me since.

Q. Do you have a favorite or memorable family story?
A. My mother took my sister and I to live in Guanajuato, Gto. to live amongst the natives. Her intention was for all of us to learn spanish. I think I picked up the most. We took the train down there. Our quarters were supposed to be first class. This meant it had air conditioning. What they called air conditioning was a little fan in the corner of the room. Our train de-railed in Tepic. Tepic is the desert; very hot and dry. The windows in our room did not open. We tried to go into third class where the windows worked, but they wouldn't let us. My mother became angry and started yelling at one of the workers. He told her that if she continued, that he would let us off of the train. I was scared that they were going to leave my little family unit in the middle of nowhere. And they would have.
